Environmental Outreach Program
“Soul of Bahia” is a comprehensive program focused on environmental education and outreach for residents, guest, staff, contractors, and particularly the surrounding community.
Plant Nursery
Our state-of-art Plant Nursery is dedicated to the propagation of native and naturalized plants. A section of this Greenhouse is focused on the development of fruits, vegetables and herbs processed in a hydroponic system. Guests and residents are able to buy fresh products. Most of the herbs used at our restaurants are a product of this venue.
Tree Planting Program
We have transplanted more than 5,000 trees with an 80% success.
Wildlife Conservation
The area offers a wide variety of natural species including marshes, lakes, a coconut plantation, fresh water swamps, mangroves, sandy beach, coral reef and secondary forests. Our zone is a natural environment of great value for wildlife. Protecting and enhancing habitat are the main tools for wildlife conservation. Endangered species like the leatherback turtle and the Caribbean Manatee are protected in coordination with public and private organizations .
Nature Center
The nature center is located at the Boathouse and it serves as a laboratory for environmental education.
